Climbing a Thousand Hills

In May 2009 Phil Carpenter went to Rwanda to teach journalism and take a look at how Rwanda had changed in the 15 years since the 1994 genocide.

The comments here made by every day Rwandans are positive in in terms of national reconciliation, it reflects their deep values and concerns in overcoming the past memory of civil war and its excesses. This depth and breadth of joint reconciliation is beautifully expressed, and therefore ought to greatly contribute towards peacebuilding, and towards a viable and vibrant participatory democracy. These are valuable lessons.
